Karmen Walker Brown is an experienced Government Affairs and Communications professional. As Director of Government Affairs for Comcast of Maryland, Inc., she led the company’s government affairs and community relations efforts in Prince George’s County, Maryland. In her role at Comcast, Karmen was responsible for the negotiation, administration and compliance of more than 30 franchise agreements in numerous jurisdictions.
Throughout her career, one of Karmen’s greatest assets has been her cultivation of strong relationships on the local, state and federal levels of government and in the community. She has worked with many community organizations and local non-profits both in her role with Comcast and as a private citizen.
In July 2016, Karmen left her role at Comcast and now provides consulting services for the company in their ongoing contract negotiations. Her more than 30 years of experience and close relationships with local stakeholders provides an invaluable service in her consulting role.
Karmen currently serves on the Board of Directors for the University of Maryland Capital Region Health, and the Executive Board of the Congressional Club. She has also served on the boards of the Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce, Bowie Health Center Foundation and chaired the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington, Prince George’s County.
Karmen has a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Florida and a M.S. in Telecommunications from Syracuse University.
She is a long time resident of Prince George’s County and is married to Congressman Anthony Brown, 4th Congressional District, Maryland.
